Other Building Applications

Initial assessment of other applications is completed within fourteen (14) days. This allows for externally sourced information to be received. If no other approvals or external services are required, determination of the application will occur at the same time as the initial assessment.

Both State Government & Council specifies the circumstances under which certain structures can be approved without further reference to Council. State Government provides a series of Queensland Development Codes, while the instruments that Council uses to control development are Planning Schemes. The Queensland Development Codes are general, & apply to the whole of Queensland, while Planning Schemes contain site specific restrictions. For example, in Brisbane, small lots must comply with the Brisbane Small Lot Code & in Moreton Bay, lots may have a Bushfire Overlay. These additional requirements placed by Council are to ensure acceptable placement of buildings. Building Certifiers are concerned with the health & safety of your building on your lot, while Council are concerned about the amenity & suitability of the area for the proposed structure.

Where additional applications are required, or other companies have been contracted to provide services, the time line for final assessment is dependant on these providers. Blue Tongue Building Approvals will regularly update you on the progress of the application.
